Bound In Boston FAQ

  • Is there sex or nudity at the workshops?

No. The workshops are for learning about Japanese-style rope bondage techniques. It's a sexy topic - that's why no one under 18 is admitted - but the workshops themselves really concentrate on style and technique.

  • How should I dress for the workshop?

Dress for comfort. The workshops are very low-key events, and they're not intended to be play parties. Many people come in jeans or sweats. Think casual.

  • Should I bring rope?

You should bring rope if you're a top or a switch. If you're a bottom, someone else will probably have rope to use with you. See the glossary if these terms are unfamiliar to you. You can learn more about rope here.

  • I don't have a partner - can I come to the workshop alone?

Yes. Many partner-less people come to the workshop, and we usually have a fairly even balance between tops and bottoms.

That said, we don't make any efforts to maintain a balance between men and women, or tops and bottoms. It'd be too hard, and we don't want to make it a practice to exclude anyone from our events. That means that sometimes there'll be more of one than another. It's usually pretty close, and we do work at matching up un-paired singles, but it's not perfect, and that means sometimes a few people spend some time just watching.

This Bound In Boston website serves members of the bdsm rope bondage kink and fetish communities in the Boston, Massachusetts area. It is particularly of interest to people who are interested in Shibari or Kinbaku. These are the origins of the Japanese-styled rope bondage techniques that we learn about and practice. Very often people in the kink and fetish communities are interested in rope bondage, having heard the terms Shibari and Kinbaku, but are uneducated in their origins and use. While we are not technically teaching the pure rope bondage forms of Shibari or Kinbaku, we base our teachings on those artforms. Our workshops are in the Boston, Massachusetts area. Hemp, jute - different types of rope are used.
